Mali’s transitional government has approved the creation of ONAC — the National Office for Veterans, Military Personnel, and War Victims — as part of sweeping reforms to support those who have served the country.
Adopted during a plenary session of the National Transitional Council, the new law seeks to improve the welfare and reintegration of retired soldiers and victims of war.
ONAC will also allow veterans to serve as a strategic reserve force and provide technical training for the armed forces, leveraging their experience.
Defense officials say this is a critical step toward strengthening Mali’s security sector and honoring those who sacrificed for the nation.
