Independent armed groups in northern Mali have been reacting to the termination of the 2015 Algerian peace agreement announced by the current military authorities.
According to the permanent strategic framework representing these armed groups, the decision will have severe implications for peace and stability in both Mali and the Sahel region.
Subsequently, the Malian Minister of Reconciliation engaged in discussions with other groups aligned with the government’s peace agreement.
The independent armed groups in the north, through a statement, acknowledged the decision to terminate the Algerian peace agreement by the transitional authorities.
This development prompts Bamako to call for an inter-Malian dialogue.
However, according to the permanent strategic framework representing the independent armed groups, the termination of the Algerian peace agreement eliminates any possibility of negotiations with Bamako.
