Bamako is hosting more than 90 African and international experts for a major conference on road infrastructure sustainability, seen as critical for connectivity and integration across the continent.
The 17th meeting of the Association of African Road Managers and Partners opened Thursday, bringing together decision-makers, donors, and private sector stakeholders. The discussions will run until September 27.
Mali is investing heavily in its strategic road network as part of efforts to boost economic growth and strengthen regional links. Officials say the focus is on building durable, climate-resilient infrastructure.
Participants are expected to adopt recommendations to improve road safety, financing, and maintenance, while fostering partnerships to meet Africa’s long-term mobility needs.
