Former Malian Prime Minister Choguel Maïga has been taken into custody amid an investigation into alleged financial misconduct during his time in office. He appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Center on August 1, 2025.

According to a report by the Auditor General’s office, which monitors public fund usage, Maïga’s management of the Prime Minister’s office is under serious scrutiny.

Authorities say the probe aims to ensure accountability and transparency in the handling of state resources.
