In Mali, radio commentator Ras Bath and social media influencer Rose Vie Chère will remain in custody as the indictment chamber of the Court of Appeal ordered a retrial on Tuesday.
Both activists, imprisoned since 2023, face charges of criminal conspiracy and undermining the state’s reputation—offenses for which they have already undergone trial.
The court’s decision underscores ongoing legal challenges for public figures critical of the government, amid broader debates on freedom of expression in Mali.
Supporters of the two personalities continue to call for their release while awaiting the retrial proceedings.
