Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger are moving toward a unified visa system to boost regional integration within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
Discussions over the weekend in Bamako brought together experts from the three nations to lay the foundation for the initiative. The common visa aims to streamline travel and strengthen economic ties.
Once implemented, foreign nationals will need a single visa to move across the AES region, simplifying entry requirements and promoting cross-border cooperation.
The move signals a push for deeper regional unity, despite the bloc’s recent exit from ECOWAS. Officials believe it will enhance trade, security, and diplomatic collaboration.
