In Mali, the transitional government has approved the country’s first National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2026–2030, marking a major step toward strengthening digital security. The decision was announced following a recent Council of Ministers meeting.

Authorities say the strategy aims to improve national coordination and reinforce protection of information systems, especially as Mali records a growing number of cyber incidents. The lack of a unified security framework had long been viewed as a weakness in the country’s digital environment.

Presented by the Minister of Communication, Digital Economy, and Administrative Modernization, the strategy outlines reforms to streamline institutional roles and consolidate cybersecurity efforts across government and private sectors.

Officials believe the new framework will pave the way for a more resilient digital ecosystem, ensuring that Mali is better equipped to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats in the years ahead.
