President John Mahama has announced posthumous promotions for the three Ghana Armed Forces personnel who perished in the August 6 helicopter crash during the state funeral held on August 15.
- Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala has been elevated to Wing Commander.
- Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu is now Flight Lieutenant.
- Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah has been promoted to Flight Sergeant.
The President described these promotions as the highest mark of honour for duty performed unto death—not merely symbolic, but a rightful placement of these officers on the Republic’s Roll of Honour. He emphasized that the benefits due to their families will now reflect these new ranks.
Ceremonial insignias will be presented to the families under the supervision of the Chief of Defence Staff, as part of military tradition and national tribute.
