French President Emmanuel Macron is heading to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, where he will co-chair an international conference on the two-state solution alongside Saudi Arabia.
According to the Élysée Palace, the meeting builds on the New York Declaration adopted in July by 142 UN member states. The plan outlines steps toward peace, including the release of hostages, a ceasefire in Gaza, reconstruction of the region, and restoring the Palestinian Authority.
On this occasion, France — together with Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Malta, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom — is expected to formally recognize the State of Palestine.
