Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has been elected the new Chair of ECOWAS, marking a leadership transition within the West African bloc.
His appointment was confirmed during the 67th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government held in Abuja. President Bio takes over from Nigeria’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who led the bloc through a period of regional turbulence.
As ECOWAS faces mounting political and economic challenges, Bio’s leadership is expected to bring renewed focus on regional stability and integration.
