The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has pledged a stronger fight against substance abuse, unveiling new reforms to strengthen accountability and restore public trust.

At a press conference on Thursday, the interim Officer in Charge reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to curbing drug abuse nationwide. Central to the reforms is the introduction of mandatory drug testing for all LDEA agents.

Over the years, assessments have highlighted gaps in the agency’s structure and responsiveness, leading to the dismissal of two separate management teams. The new leadership says lessons have been learned.

The LDEA maintains that the reforms will enhance its credibility and effectiveness, ensuring the agency is better positioned to address the growing drug problem in Liberia.
