There is a growing tension over the forceful retirement and replacement of officeholders whose tenures are yet to expire by President Joseph Boakai.
Many see Boakai’s action as a complete disregard for the rule of law protecting people with tenure positions in the government.
Several institutions such as the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, the National Lottery Authority, and the Environmental Protection Agency with clauses protecting their executives’ tenure have all been replaced.
