Liberia’s Office of the Ombudsman has fined 20 high-ranking officials for failing to appear at hearings into alleged breaches of public service ethics. Each official faces a US$1,000 penalty for repeated non-compliance.
Among those fined are Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper Kruah, LPRC Managing Director Amos Tweh, and NPA Board Chair J. Luther Tarpeh. Despite receiving extensions, the officials—represented by Henry’s Law Firm—missed scheduled sessions without valid justification.
An official statement dated April 4, 2025, confirms new summonses have been issued, ordering all parties to appear by April 9.
The Ombudsman stressed that ethical governance is not optional and warned that accountability remains a cornerstone of Liberia’s public service code.
