Liberia’s Supreme Court has reinforced the authority of House Speaker Fonati Koffa, following a legal challenge to his leadership. The ruling, delivered on Wednesday, granted a Bill of Information filed by Koffa, amid rising tensions within the legislature.

The court ruled that any actions taken by the majority bloc of lawmakers to undermine Koffa’s authority were unconstitutional and violated parliamentary protocols. The verdict reaffirms Koffa’s position as Speaker.

Despite the decision, the majority bloc has openly rejected the ruling, fueling speculation of a potential political standoff. They argue the court overstepped its bounds in internal legislative matters.

This development adds to the growing political friction within Liberia’s government, raising questions about unity and stability in the legislative process ahead of key national decisions.
