The Liberian government, through the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Reconciliation Commission (LRRRC), has begun the payment of resettlement financial packages to returnees under the first phase of the repatriation program.

This is to aid the reintegration of the returnees. About 1,530 Liberians who were residing in the Budumburam Refugee Camp in Ghana were recently repatriated back home after the Ghanaian authorities resolved to demolish the camp.

WADR’s Darlington Porkpa visited the transit center in Johnsonville outside Monrovia and filed this report.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General for Liberian Community in Ghana ,Rancy Gbojueh Quiah says the reintegration process for Liberians in Ghana has failed and also faulted the Ghanaian government for reneging on promises made to them after their refugee status were withdrawn.
