The Armed Forces of Liberia has activated its 1st Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and a new Signal Unit, marking a major step in the country’s military modernization efforts.
The activation ceremony took place at the Barclay Training Center in Monrovia and was attended by senior military officials and government representatives. The move highlights Liberia’s renewed focus on improving defense capabilities and operational readiness.
Military leaders say the new units will enhance surveillance, communication, and rapid response capacities, especially in times of national emergencies or security threats.
This development is seen as a milestone in Liberia’s post-war security reforms and reflects the government’s ongoing investment in strengthening the armed forces.
