Liberia has signed a landmark €25 million grant agreement with the European Union to strengthen its private sector and local industries. The deal, formalized through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, targets key sectors like cassava processing, fisheries, and timber.
The initiative aims to empower micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), enhance value addition, and reduce Liberia’s dependency on imports. Officials say it will also encourage export growth and economic self-sufficiency.
EU Ambassador Nona Deprez reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to ensuring the program delivers sustainable and lasting impact for Liberia’s economy.
