Liberia’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council is gaining momentum.

Permanent Representative Lewis Brown says the African Union has endorsed Liberia for the 2026-2027 term.

This move aims to strengthen Africa’s voice in global peace and security decisions.

Liberia, a UN founding member, last held a Security Council seat in 1961.
