Liberian President Joseph Boakai has ordered the Armed Forces of Liberia to proceed with the eviction of residents at the 72nd Barracks, ending hopes of a reprieve for the affected community.
The decision follows repeated appeals from long-term occupants seeking more time to secure alternative housing.
Located on the outskirts of Monrovia, the 72nd Barracks is home to hundreds of families, including veterans and descendants of former military personnel, amid plans by the AFL to reclaim the land for military expansion.
