Liberia’s President Joseph Boakai has declared drug and substance abuse a public health emergency, revealing the establishment of a steering committee to address this pressing issue.

WADR Darlington Porkpa in Monrovia reports that, despite Liberia not being a major producer of illicit narcotics, there is a noticeable prevalence of public consumption of local drugs, including marijuana, heroin, kush, and cocaine.
