The Liberia National Police say DNA testing remains the only way to confirm the involvement of suspended Deputy Minister for Youth Development, Bryant McGill, in an ongoing rape investigation.
Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman told reporters that initial findings, including CCTV footage and call log reviews, showed no direct link between McGill and the alleged victim.
McGill, currently suspended from office, faces allegations of child rape that have sparked public concern and calls for transparency in the investigation.
Authorities have requested international assistance for DNA analysis, as Liberia’s testing equipment is currently nonfunctional. The police say they remain committed to ensuring due process while awaiting results.
