Liberia has taken a major step toward equitable healthcare with the launch of its first National Digital Health Insurance scheme.
Set to begin in July 2025, the initiative targets 3,000 to 5,000 of the country’s most vulnerable citizens, offering them subsidized access to healthcare.
The program is backed by a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Liberia Telecommunication Authority, National Insurance Company of Liberia, and National Identification Registry.
By integrating digital tools, the government aims to expand coverage, improve efficiency, and reduce long-standing barriers to healthcare access.
