The ECOWAS Court of Justice has wrapped up a week-long sensitization program in Monrovia aimed at increasing public understanding of the court’s mandate, practices, and jurisdiction across member states. The initiative sought to bridge the gap between the institution and the citizens it serves.
Running from November 10 to 16, 2025, the program featured presentations, panel discussions, and interactive dialogues with key stakeholders. Participants engaged directly with legal experts to learn how the court addresses human rights violations and interstate disputes.
A special legal clinic offered residents the opportunity to ask case-related questions and receive guidance on how to access the court’s services. Organisers say the clinic helped demystify the court’s procedures for ordinary citizens.
The ECOWAS Court hopes the Monrovia outreach will strengthen regional access to justice, promote accountability, and encourage more citizens to use the mechanisms available for protecting their rights.
