Tensions along the Liberia–Guinea border escalated on Wednesday after a Liberian citizen was reportedly shot by Guinean troops during a confrontation.
The incident follows renewed territorial disputes between the two neighboring countries, raising concerns about stability in the Mano River Union region.
Guinea is claiming ownership of a piece of land on Liberian territory near the Sorlumba Port of Entry in Lofa County.
The violence comes even as authorities in Monrovia and Conakry continue diplomatic talks, with a resolution expected in the coming days.
