Liberia’s Ministry of Health has inaugurated a new Health Security Project aimed at strengthening the country’s ability to prevent, detect, and respond to public health threats. The launch took place on Tuesday in partnership with the World Bank.

According to officials, the initiative seeks to bolster national preparedness for outbreaks by improving surveillance systems, emergency response mechanisms, and laboratory capacity across the country.

The project is anchored in the “One Health” framework, which recognizes that human, animal, and environmental health are interconnected—especially as pandemic risks and climate-related challenges continue to rise.

Authorities say the effort marks a significant step toward building a more resilient health system capable of managing future emergencies.
