Former House Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa has urged the Liberian House of Representatives to include a US$25 million Social Safety Net Fund in the upcoming 2026 national budget.
In a communication to the legislature on Thursday, Koffa proposed that the fund support vulnerable Liberians struggling with rising school fees and rent payments amid the country’s economic challenges.
He emphasized that the initiative would provide much-needed relief to thousands of households and promote social stability during tough economic times.
