Liberia’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is stepping up efforts to tackle noise pollution by reviewing existing laws and introducing stricter measures. The initiative comes in response to rising public concern over the disruptive effects of excessive noise on communities.
EPA Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Urey Yarkawolo, highlighted that common sources of noise include church crusades, public gatherings, and loud music in shared spaces. Such disturbances, he noted, not only harm the environment but also disrupt public peace and community well-being.
The agency’s planned crackdown signals a stronger stance on enforcing noise control regulations. By tightening the rules, the EPA aims to create a healthier, more peaceful environment for Liberians.
Dr. Yarkawolo stressed that stricter enforcement will serve as both a corrective and a deterrent measure. The move underscores the EPA’s broader commitment to safeguarding environmental quality and ensuring public tranquility across the nation.
