Liberia, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire have jointly launched the ECOWAS System Interconnected Management of Goods in Transit (SIGMAT) platform, marking a major step toward modernizing cross-border trade.
Unveiled over the weekend after a technical meeting in Monrovia, the platform aims to digitalize customs operations, enhance transparency, and streamline the movement of goods across West Africa.
The initiative brings together customs experts from the three countries and builds on momentum generated by the ECOWAS Community Transit Supplementary Act adopted in 2021.
Originally introduced in 2019, SIGMAT is now expected to significantly accelerate regional integration efforts and improve trade efficiency.
