A coalition of Liberian business owners has petitioned the 55th Legislature, raising concerns over the influx of substandard building materials, particularly steel rods. They argue that these poor-quality materials threaten public safety and undermine national infrastructure development.
The group also criticized foreign dominance in the sector, particularly by Sehti Brothers Incorporated. They claim this has sidelined local businesses while driving up prices and reducing quality.
Lawmakers have yet to respond, but the coalition is urging swift intervention to enforce stricter quality standards and support local suppliers.
