Liberia’s civil rights movement Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND) has announced a nationwide protest for December 17, 2025, citing escalating economic hardship and alleged corruption within the government. The upcoming demonstration follows the group’s first major protest held on July 17, 2025, which drew significant public attention.
STAND says ordinary Liberians are struggling under worsening economic conditions, marked by rising inflation and persistent unemployment. The group argues that mismanagement of public funds and a lack of accountability have deepened the frustrations of citizens.
According to STAND, the December protest aims to pressure the government to tackle corruption, strengthen transparency, and implement urgent measures to improve living standards. Organizers say they expect a larger turnout as public discontent continues to grow.
With momentum building ahead of the demonstration, STAND maintains that peaceful civic engagement is essential to holding leaders accountable and pushing for meaningful reforms.
