A coalition of private sector actors in Liberia has petitioned the government over what it describes as growing foreign dominance in the country’s business sector.
The group says the situation is limiting opportunities for local entrepreneurs and weakening indigenous participation in the economy.
Operating under the name Economic Justice Campaigners, the coalition argues that existing policies meant to protect Liberian businesses are not being enforced.
They are calling on the government to fully implement the Liberalization Policy to strengthen local enterprise and promote economic inclusion.
