In Liberia, a new audit report by the General Auditing Commission (GAC) has uncovered over $2.8 million in unsubstantiated payments made by the Ministry of Finance.
The investigation revealed glaring gaps in accountability, with missing documentation such as payment receipts, vendor quotations, contracts, expenditure reports, and delivery notes.
The findings have triggered public outrage and heightened calls for transparency and accountability in government financial management.
Observers warn that unless immediate corrective measures are taken, such lapses will continue to undermine public trust and weaken Liberia’s financial governance systems.
