Anaesthesia providers in Liberia have staged a protest in Monrovia, demanding fair pay and formal recognition for their role in the healthcare system.
The dispute reached a critical point on Thursday when the professionals suspended services, citing long-standing unfair treatment and unfulfilled government promises.
Gathered at the Ministry of Health headquarters, the anesthetists held placards and publicly denounced what they described as systemic neglect of their profession.
The protest has raised serious concerns about the impact on patient care and the broader strain on Liberia’s already fragile health sector.
