The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea in partnership with the government of Liberia has commenced a two-day dialogue geared toward ending illegal fishing in the country.

Illegal fishing undermines emerging blue economy initiatives across Africa, costing states billions in lost revenue, with Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone alone losing US$2.3 billion annually to illegal fishing.
