In Mali, faint signs of relief are emerging after weeks of crippling fuel shortages linked to attacks by the JNIM armed group in the north.

On Wednesday, nearly 200 fuel tankers arrived in Bamako under tight military escort — a delivery authorities hope will ease the country’s deepening energy crisis.

The shortage has severely disrupted transport and daily life, forcing residents to pay soaring prices for basic goods and services.

Yet, as fuel supplies slowly return, concerns persist over JNIM’s evolving tactics and the broader security implications for Mali’s fragile stability.
