In Liberia, all members of the Senate and their staff are now required to wear African attire, particularly outfits made in Liberia, during every Thursday session.
This decision was unanimously agreed upon during the Senate plenary session on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The senators stated that this initiative aims to support local artisans and designers while encouraging the use of traditional Liberian fabrics such as lena, kpla, and country cloth.
Meanwhile, Liberians, both at home and abroad, are reacting to the Senate’s decision.
