The International Rescue Committee (IRC) will conclude its work in Liberia on April 30, 2025, after nearly three decades of humanitarian and development efforts. The move signals a shift toward local ownership of progress made in health, education, and basic services.
Since 1996, the IRC has invested over $200 million in Liberia, assisting nearly two million people across 12 counties. It has played a key role in post-war reconstruction, reintegration of former child soldiers, and strengthening healthcare systems.
As it prepares to exit, the IRC expresses gratitude to Liberia for years of partnership and remains open to future collaborations if needed.
