A security expert is urging Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek international assistance in combating insurgency, following recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Trump’s comments, which included threats of possible U.S. military action over alleged killings of Christians in northern Nigeria, have reignited debate about the country’s internal security and international relations.
Chief Dr Edinen Usoro emphasized that while Nigeria must safeguard its sovereignty, it should also consider strengthening intelligence and counterterrorism cooperation with global partners to tackle the growing insecurity in the north.
The call comes amid renewed concerns about cross-border extremism and the humanitarian toll of ongoing conflicts in several northern states.
