In West Africa, children make up more than half of the population, a vital force for the region’s peace and future.
Yet, many still face harsh realities like child trafficking, forced begging, early marriage, and abuse that rob them of their dignity and dreams.
To tackle these challenges, the UN Human Rights Office for West Africa, through the PAPEV Project, that is the Project to Support the Protection of Children Victims of Rights Violations, has been strengthening child protection systems in Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
As the project enters its second phase, WADR spoke with Robert Kotchani, the Regional Director for West Africa at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the progress made.
