The Organized labour in Nigeria has suspended its 2 days strike following a demand for a living wage. The suspension is for Five days.
This action has continued to form discourse among Nigerians who doubt the feasibility of the amount requested by NLC and TUC.
For clarity, labour is demanding a living wage of N494,000 which is about $400 and the federal government is proposing N60,000 which is about $40.
For governance expert, Austin Aigbe, with the current reality in Nigeria, the government can consider a living wage of N200,000 to N300,000. But even at that how feasible and realistic is this?
