INTERPOL has announced the arrest of hundreds of suspected internet fraudsters in a coordinated operation spanning 16 African countries.
The operation, code-named “Red Carpet,” was carried out in collaboration with national law enforcement agencies to track and dismantle cybercrime networks.
Several West African nations were involved in the sweep, including Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria.
Authorities say the crackdown reflects growing cross-border cooperation aimed at curbing online fraud and strengthening digital security across the continent.
