The Senegalese government has announced a suspension of inter-regional travel on Sunday, November 17, the day of the legislative elections, as part of measures to ensure a secure voting environment.
According to a decree issued by the Ministry of Interior and Public Security, the restriction is aimed at minimizing potential security risks during the polls. Interior Minister Jean Baptiste Tine clarified that the measure will not affect vehicles on essential operations or those used by defense and security forces.
The move underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity and smooth conduct of the electoral process as millions of Senegalese prepare to elect their representatives.
