As usual, In The Sahel every once a month, brings you a panel discussion on a security issue of paramount importance.
On today’s package, we are looking at Security Sector Reform with a particular emphasis on Nigeria under the current security situation.
But first, what comes to mind when Security Sector Reform is mentioned?
Now, this sort of reform is a work undertaken by a government and its people to make the country’s security institutions serve its citizens, provide people-centred security, accountable institutions that contribute to the rule of law, and improve lives and livelihoods for all.
This reform centres on the armed forces and police, as well as other security agencies and equally, highlights the roles of ministries and departments that function alongside these outfits.
Well joining me to discuss Security Sector Reform, its importance and essentially the challenges in implementing this are two security experts from Nigeria.
