Over the past few years, a significant and growing share of missions and operations have been devoted to training and capacity-building in fragile countries and regions in Africa, from the Horn to the Great Lakes and from the Sahel to the Gulf of Guinea.
The operations against the growing spread of terrorists in the Sahel region of West Africa to the Coastal states have also been made possible through the use and import of military hardware and counter-financing.
Across the Sahel belt, Mali and Burkina Faso have lately spent millions of dollars in the purchase of equipment while equally receiving international and regional support to aid their fight against insurgents.
Away from the Sahel, the federal government of Nigeria after spending 78 million dollars in 2023 alone for the acquisition of military hardware, signed a memorandum of understanding with a state-owned arms manufacturing company through the defence ministry for its needs.
This week, Abdullahi Hassan, is discussing, military equipment and counter-financing.
