Former Nigerian military leader, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a “brother, friend, and patriot.”

In a statement released on Monday, IBB praised Buhari’s lifelong dedication to Nigeria’s unity, security, and development. He recalled their decades-long relationship both in and out of military service, highlighting Buhari’s unwavering commitment to national service.

Babangida noted that while their paths often differed politically, they shared a common vision for Nigeria and mutual respect that transcended leadership roles.

He joins a growing list of African leaders and dignitaries honouring Buhari’s legacy as the country prepares to lay him to rest in his hometown of Daura.
