Guinea’s legal community is taking a firm stand following the abduction of prominent lawyer Mohamed Traoré. On Monday, June 23, the Bar Association announced a two-week boycott of all court hearings and a withdrawal from transitional institutions in protest.
The move comes after Traoré, a former Bar president and National Transitional Council member, was forcibly taken from his home by masked men and later found unconscious. His abduction has sparked outrage among legal practitioners and human rights groups.
The Bar Association has vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible, describing the incident as a grave attack on the rule of law and judicial independence.
