Despite heavy rains currently falling in the country, a large part of the capital, Conakry, remains plunged in darkness.

This has affected many households and small to medium-sized businesses.

The transitional authorities argue that these power outages are due to the drop in water levels in the country’s two largest hydroelectric dams.

According to the head of government, the situation may not return to normal until May 2025.

Etsey Atisu reports.
