The Umbrella Trade Union movement is threatening to call for a general and unlimited strike in the public and private sectors in Guinea.
The collective action is to demand the release of the Secretary General of the Guinean Press Professionals’ Union Sékou Jamal Pendessa.
At the same time, journalists will seize the opportunity to ask for the immediate restoration of jammed broadcast signals and the freeing of the internet connection.
Leaders of all the trade union centres are meeting in Conakry today, Tuesday to discuss the general strike slated for the end of the week.
Pendessa who was arrested last week was heard again on Monday by the examining magistrate of the Dixinn court of first instance.
