Guinea’s Supreme Court has gone ahead with inaugurating special electoral committees just weeks before the December 28 presidential election, despite growing opposition.
The latest appointments include members of the panel of professional doctors and the candidate validation commission, signaling the court’s determination to stick to the electoral timeline.
However, several political actors are calling for a postponement of the polls or a revision of the electoral code. Others are demanding an inclusive dialogue involving all stakeholders — including suspended parties and exiled leaders — before any progress in the election process.
