There is widespread outrage in Guinea following the abduction of prominent lawyer and former Bar President, Mohamed Traoré.

Traoré, who also served on the National Transitional Council, was reportedly taken from his home by hooded men in military uniform late Friday night. He was found the following day, unconscious and abandoned in a village near Conakry.

The Guinean Bar Association and rights groups have condemned the attack as a grave assault on human rights and the rule of law. Lawyers across the country are now threatening to take decisive action if the perpetrators are not brought to justice.

This incident has intensified fears of rising intimidation against critical voices in Guinea’s ongoing transition.
